Bio
Watch Joan Tower, Ph.D., a three time Grammy Award winning composer of “Made in America”, share her illustrious fifty year career as a composer, conductor, musician and educator. Some of her other important works include “Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman”, “Rhapsody in Purple”, “Sequoia” and “Silver Ladders”. We learn about time, contrast and color as vital elements in composition and she explains how composing music is similar to how an architect designs a building. She also reveals her admiration for the rebels amongst us.
