Watch Barbara Mitchell, a cosmetic chemist and lab manager with L’Oreal USA. She oversees a team of chemists in the development and creation of L’Oreal products. The most rewarding part of her job is knowing that she’s having an impact on millions of women by providing them with products that make them look and feel their best. Barbara says that girls should consider a career in cosmetic chemistry because you get to create and develop new compounds and experiment with ingredients every day. Her advice to girls is that joy is an inside job; you can’t look to others to make you happy; it has to come from you.
