Bio
Watch Danielle Hankinson, a forensic scientist with the Michigan State Police, share how she develops DNA profiles that determine whether or not a person was at the scene of a crime. The most rewarding part of her career is the opportunity to educate people, whether it’s educating the jury about her DNA results or training law enforcement on how to collect evidence. Danielle says girls should consider a career in forensic science if they enjoy doing puzzles or word problems because these are like the analytical and problem solving skills they will use every day at work. Her advice for girls is that only you know what you’re capable of, so don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can not do.
