She works to increase opportunities for women to pursue careers in STEM fields and leadership positions in Ethiopia's energy sector. The most rewarding part of her job is knowing that her work has a positive impact on the lives of girls and women in Ethiopia. Meskerem says that girls should consider careers in international development because it gives you the chance to influence the world and advance gender equality. Her advice to girls is to get out of your comfort zone, face challenges, and tell yourself that you can do it.
