Bio
Watch Katherine (Katie) E. Bowden, Ph.D., molecular biologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, share how she discovered her passion for science when she took her first genetics class. In her current position, she is responsible for monitoring whooping cough, which disproportionately impacts infants. The best part of her job is knowing that every day at work, she is helping to save the life of a baby. She also shares advice her parents gave her about being careful in choosing your friends, “don't settle for less, because you are going to get less than you settle for".
