How to Become A: School Counselor

Bio

Watch Sonya Wright, an elementary school counselor. She works with teachers, administrators and community members to provide support for students in their academic and personal lives. One of the most rewarding parts of her job is talking with former students and hearing their stories about how helpful the school counseling program was to them in their adult lives. Sonya thinks that girls should consider a career in counseling because counselors empower students every day by teaching them life skills that make their lives better. Her advice to girls is to make wise choices, choose your friends carefully and surround yourself with people that are moving in a positive direction.
